MOBY DESTROYED - NH GHENT - MAY 2011

On Wednesday May 18, Moby is heading for Ghent to open A&Gallery AND his very first photo exhibition Destroyed - which is also the title of his new album/book (out on May 16). Of course, there is also a little after party at - where else? - Avenue L - NH Ghent Belfort. :)

The line-up includes MOBY (DJ set), our favorite cosmic musician AEROPLANE and Avenue L resident FREDO.

Please note that Golden Member Cards are not valid on May 18.

Fredo & Bart are ready for 1 year avenue L!

Everyone needs a theme tune. In our case, after one year of avenue L, taking out just one tune is about impossible..
So we decided to cast a monthly mixtape, starting next month,  bringing you ‘the sound of L’.
And, who better than YOU is in the right place to make the first one in our series?
Send us your personal top 3 songs you will always associate with avenue L, for a good number of reasons (think Lust, love, Lovers, Leather, Lolita…) and we will make a nice mix out of it.
Each track will represent an avenue L lover, a specific memory,  a certain flirt, a dance anthem or karaoke ballad. All happened this one year we now have been together.
Times are a-changing, someone once sang, we hope they will always stay the same..

TUESDAY MAY 31 - GENT M #8

Another inspiring Gent M evening about the digital creative scene in Ghent. This time we have a talk with #youngscum Polle De Maagt and our mayor Daniel Termont about the use of social media. The already infamous Jérome will give a showcase on his ‘yellow bike’.

THURSDAY JUNE 2 - ULTRAVID

Ask someone in London if he will ‘make the bridge’ and he will look at you as if you’re an alien. Ask the same question in Paris: ‘do you faire la pont’, and they will cheer up and say: mais oui!!
Anyway, you get the point, there is no point in working this friday. So come and join us with the tallest dj from Ghent (literally) Steven Ultravid.

FRIDAY JUNE 3 - BELGIUM - TURKEY

Forget Art, Books, Talks en Live Music… There is nothing better than to watch a good game of soccer with your friends. Belgium vs Turkey. French Fries vs Doner Kebab? What do you think. 3 - 0. Live broadcast starts at 19.30h.

SATURDAY JUNE 4 - JENS HOLMES

If you happen to see Jens Holmes in a record shop, take a peep at what he is buying. It is one of those rare djs who always knows how to find the best tunes. He’ll play anything contemporary, with a collection over 10,000 more records, consisting 20 years of electronic music. A little man with a big talent.

Stien Bekaert is inspired by  things that get stuck in her head or heart. “Sometimes, the best way to approach the world, and the world of art, is by recognizing that you can’t grasp it, you can’t apprehend it.” Stien Bekaert tells stories. These stories grow by the ever-recurring of certain details, elements and ideas, without any relation to time or space.

This expo will ongoing ‘till closing night june 12. Following to the expo is a dj set by dj-duo Tim & Thang.

This guy is known as Belgium most rhythmic male monkey. You can expect a Dj set that “Sounds like Keith Moon and ANIMAL from The Muppets double teaming Diana Ross on top of a mixer while Henry Rollins watches!” 

Footnote; they told us he is also the drummer of band called Soulwax.

This year’s Champions League final must be the most anticipated finals of the last decade, the pick of the bunch. FC BARCELONA vs MANCHESTER UNITED. So come along and join us in what we think is the final every soccerfan was hoping for. We’ll be beaming the live broadcast on big screen.
DJ Foxy is paying a second visit to n°13. We all know how that ended last time.
